Bethesda stated that it was working on a more dangerous version of PvP mode for Fallout 76 and has since provided some more details for “Survival” mode.
The revamped mode will be separate from the main game and will offer the same quests, events and story that is included in Adventure mode, and will give you the option to play as a current character, or create a new one.
Choosing to play with a current character means that all progress will travel with you along with anything else which affects your character.
“This means that if you fire off all your ammo, level up, complete a quest, spend Caps, or find a fancy new weapon in Survival, this will also be reflected on that character in Adventure,” Bethesda explained.
“If you’d rather keep your existing characters as they are, we recommend starting a new one when you head into the more challenging Survival mode.”
Level scaling will work the same as in Adventure mode and Bethesda plans to “experiment with different rules” such as death mechanics after the beta release.
The first phase of the beta will arrive in March.
