Gearbox Software is hyping up their panel at PAX East 2019 and it is rumored that the presentation will include the revealing of Borderlands 3.
Gearbox has been painfully slow with the real follow up to Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel which was mildly received and seemed more like a DLC than an actual entry into the franchise, especially because it was handled by the now-defunct 2K Australia, which didn’t really capture the Borderlands feel.
Borderlands 2 was wildly successful, and easily the most successful title ever from Gearbox, yet since it dropped in 2012, Gearbox has opted to focus on other titles, mainly major flops like Battleborn, and Aliens: Colonial Marines, instead of meeting public demand for a full-fledged addition to the Borderlands franchise.
Now, it appears PAX East may give fans what they are looking for, finally, and the game is likely to arrive in late 2019 if it is announced.
