Borderlands 3 will be arriving on September 13th, according to a since deleted tweet from the official Borderlands Twitter account.
The tweet, which was unintentionally published on Monday, said that
“Mayhem is Coming September 13. Pre-order now for the Gold Weapon Skins Pack!”
The game will apparently release on the Epic Games Store, which was stated in another, separate tweet that was also deleted, but was screenshotted by ‘Wario64’.
In that specific tweet there was footbage included and at the end of the footage was the Epic Games logo.
Gearbox Software’s Randy Pitchford addressed the Epic Games apparent involvement during a tweet on Twitter.
“2K/Take Two has exclusive publishing rights for Borderlands 3 and makes all decisions regarding price-points, territories, distribution and platform partnerships.
As a customer, I’m happy to shop in different stores – already do! I’ve bought games from Xbox, Playstation, Switch, Steam, Origin, GOG, Humble, Uplay, Epic and other stores. To me, exclusives are fine when they come w/ advantages and when they are short – say, six months”
Pitchford noted that they have a “keen interest” in cross-platform play, which is very good news to hear.
