NBA 2K21 Charging Additional $10 for Playstation 5, Xbox Series X

NBA 2K21

If you’re looking to get your hands on NBA 2K21 for either the Playstation 5 or the Xbox Series X, then you should expect to be digging into your pockets for an extra $10 than what you’d pay for the game on current-gen consoles.

2K Games became the first publisher to announce a markup in pricing for the next-gen versions of a console game, and the game will not support Microsoft’s free cross-gen upgrade program, so you’re going to have to pay to play.

According to ArsTechnica, 2K says it was a fair representation of the game’s value, as it had been built “from the ground up for next-generation consoles”.

“We believe our suggested retail price for NBA 2K21 on next-generation platforms fairly represents the value of what’s being offered: power, speed, and technology that is only possible on new hardware,” a 2K spokesperson said.

“While we are confident that NBA 2K21 will be a monumental leap forward for the franchise and a standout visual showcase on next-generation consoles, we recognise that it’s our responsibility to prove this value to our fans and NBA 2K players.”
