Let’s have an honest conversation about treasure boxes. A lot of folks on Trovo are upset that there are those basically “buying” their way into Trovo 500 using treasure boxes. It’s really at the point that it’s difficult to attract new viewers without using them.
The other issue is accounts being used only to enter treasure box giveaways. I’ve started banning accounts that I recognize that only show up when I doing a treasure box. Or, will follow to get into the giveaway and then unfollow.
Some Trovo partners are calling for treasure boxes to be removed and make attracting viewers about the content you’re creating again. Not what you’re giving away. I agree.

At the time they were infinite, now there are only 3 a week. Worse are the boosting groups where many even ask for a referral code and level you up. Without boxes is it possible to grow? If in fact most of my audience comes because they raid me and they liked me or they know me from going to say hello or play with streamers friends. The boxes only give you follows but not spectators.

At first I thought that treasure boxes were a great idea but now, I’m not as sure. I see them as being abused in which many are using them to pad there numbers to get into places. Many others struggle to gather an actual community to work themselves up the level ladder. I do have to give Trovo credit in that they’re working on this problem quickly and learning as they grow. This is something Mixer struggled with and still left it to languish for a long time before doing anything about it.

I feel myself Trovo had a good idea behind the treasure boxes, they wanted them to be used for discoverability which it does work for that, unfortunately people take things like that too far and only come around for the treasure and nothing more which doesn’t help to build a community. I have been fortunate to have new people come to my stream and stick around from using the treasure boxes which has been awesome and has helped build my community a little more.
I know watch hours are going to be removed from the treasure boxes within the next few months as it is stated on their road map. In terms of removing them completely, I feel that if they are not working as intended and they are just encouraging pointless interaction then maybe removing them and looking at other alternatives could be a better option.

I agree 100%. I’ve started banning people that refollow and only show up for treasure boxes.
