thought it would be interesting to have a discussion around subscriber perks, what they are, if you have them at all, why they are how they are etc.
The reason is because I know I took a lot of inspiration for my own as well as other things for my community from seeing what others do, so I’m hoping this thread might be helpful to others as well.
Either way, let me start with what I do for my community:
Every subscriber, whether gifted or regular, has a right to their own crochet blob on my channel (image below of many of the blobs).
How it works: subscribers use a command to see my yarn stash and get to choose one yarn for body and one for eyes. Every sub anniversary (2, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months, repeating each year) they get to add one detail to their blob or start a new one. The details can be anything from a Captain America shield to wings or pigtails. Once they’ve been subscribed for 6 months they can also buy their own blobs home.
So far I’ve made 95 blobs with various details as seen in the image below. They’re also part of the streams through two bots, one which runs on my brb and crochet scenes which tosses out a random blob whenever someone types in chat and another that welcomes blob owners into the stream by tossing out their blob when they first type in chat.
Naturally this subscriber perk does require quite a bit of time as well as materials. However, it has led to a high conversion rate from gifted subscriptions to regular ones, it’s been an amazing way to show my own skills as well as my communities creativity and it’s been a good way to transfer my gaming viewership to crochet streams.
So, what are some of the perks that you’ve come up with to show a little more appreciation to your subscribers?

Personally, as of now, I don’t have much like that. I focus more on mental health and such, so my subs get a more direct line to me if they need support or a person to talk to.
I also give more weight to their choices and opinions as to the things that happen with the stream. Punishments, games, bot commands, personalized entrance commands. These things happen in stream to remind them they are important to me and valued. Sometimes it takes me some time to make the more personalized things such as entrance commands until I get to know them, but I want them to know I care about them and pay attention to those who supported me, especially early on.

That’s a good way to show your appreciation to your subscribers too!
For me personally it would be hard to strike a balance though where regular viewers wouldn’t feel like their voice doesn’t matter as much as the voice of those who can afford to support, so I respect you being able to strike that balance.
The worry about not being able to strike that balance is why I went with the blobs, because they don’t really give any power to supporters, but they’re something tangible that evolves with the support. And they’re still there even if they can’t afford to continue the support.

I think entrance commands are good too. I use an extension and they can personalize their walk on alert. Some of them like to change it up depending on what we are playing that day so it ties in which is nice. I appreciate the help line you provide that is such a good thing in general

It’s good to see more people focus on mental health. I totally think that’s an awesome idea I have it set up where my followers/subs can also choose games, bot commands, emotes (once a month), come play with me games like 7 days to die etc. Till I can get around to my other ideas.

This is a cool idea. I used to have a sub wall and would place a panda head on t he wall for every sub. They got to name each panda. I have changed this and made it so the revenue goes to symbolically adopting a panda and/or donating it to the charity we are going for that month. I have also done Football fantasy leagues with subs and the money goes to pay for the trophy for that year. We have done other things too but I like to change it up depending on the season and or events going on. I have also used the sub revenue to pay for badges for someone to a gaming convention and took them out for dinner as well.

I actually had a friend that bought a bunch of those Donation animals from Kohl’s and each sub she’d donate money in that person’s name toward a charity and the person got sent the Kohl’s stuff animal that’s really awesome. Panda’s are so cute!

I love this idea so much. I thought about doing Cross stitch for my subscribers I’ve been doing it since I was 4 years old Cross stitching. I figure going forward when I have the funding to buy more cross stitching stuff make things people would like to see I have some concepts for stuff people want done. Actually also set it up for my Ko-fi tier’s as well. A watcher of mine wanted something Final Fantasy done for his channel so I figure I’d see more stuff like that coming my way. I was also thinking about little loot crate book ideas for subs as well. That I know will be a lot of money to do that. But I loved the loot crate ideas. I even had it set up to do holiday themed box’s. Also the box’s would have my merch inside: stickers, small toys, comics, cross stitching image of there choice. Haha all my ideas cost so much to do but I’d love to be able to follow thru with these ideas
