Two German politicians from opposing parties will be taking to Twitch to live stream playing Mario Kart while they discuss Article 13, a copyright law, according to IGN.
Tiemo Wölken and Julia Reda, representatives of Germany’s Social Democratic Party, and Pirate Party respectively, will be joined by Twitch streamers P4wnyhof and Mantrousse for the event.
According to GamesIndustry.biz, Article 13 is intended to make it easier for IP owners to claim monetary compensation when their content has been subjected to copyright infringement.
Twitch has stated that the new law “impact streamers’ ability to express themselves and earn a livelihood on Twitch.”
The European Parliament has already voted in favor of the law but the details will be hammered out over the course of the next month or so, and the stream is a part of Twitch’s #SaveYourInternet campaign which asks the community to sign a petition and contact EP representatives regarding the issue.
