Twitch continues to grow, as does the overall popularity of those watching Twitch streams and regularly checking out the content provided by Twitch channels, as the streaming platform just clocked it’s second-biggest quarter to date, according to TechCrunch.
Ahead of it’s competitors YouTube, Mixer, and Facebook Gaming in live-streaming video, with more than 70% of the hours watched during the quarter.
According to a report from StreamElements, Twitch viewers live-streamed a total of 2.72+ billion hours in Q2 — or 72.2% of all live hours watched — compared with 735.54 million hours on YouTube Live (19.5%), 197.76 million on Facebook Gaming (5.3%) and just 112.29 million hours (3%) on Mixer.
The total hours watched across all of the platforms referenced in the report was 3.77 billion in Q2.
The top 5,000 channels on Twitch did a lot of the heavy lifting, as almost 75% of Twitch’s viewership came from those people tuning into the top 5,00 channels, driving 2 billion of the total hours watched.
The report also shows the climb of Facebook Gaming, as well as the top games being viewed during Q2, including the ‘Just Chatting’ category which clocked in the Top 5.
