Amazon’s Twitch has acquired gaming database website gaming-focused database website IGDB, according to TechCrunch.
IGDB, Internet Games Database (no relation to Amazon’s IMDb), is a website that focuses on combining any and all relative information related to video games into a comprehensive online resource for gamers.
Twitch will utilize IGDB’s database, feeding the date into their search and discovery features set, and plans include keeping the website up and running.
“Millions of people come to Twitch every day to find and connect with their favorite streamers and communities, and we want to make it easier for people to find what they’re looking for,” a Twitch spokesperson said, via a statement issues to TechCrunch. “IGDB has developed a comprehensive gaming database, and we’re excited to bring them on to help us more quickly improve and scale search and discovery on Twitch.”
