Epic Games has hit Zenon, a 9-year old competitive player part of Brazilian organization DETONA Gaming, with a four-year ban from Fortnite for playing “Arena Mode” which requires players to be at least 13 years old.
A clip of the ban has gone viral on Twitter, and shows Zenon bursting into tears as the ban hits, as his father watches.
Popular Mixer streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins took to Twitter to slam the ban saying: “Unless Arenas start offering money for placements there is no reason for #FreeZenon to be banned from them until he turns 13. That being said the age requirement to compete in Fortnite is 13 and he is 9. He shouldn’t be banned from any other aspect of Fortnite 100%”
Many streamers, gamers, and competitive esports players have spoken up in Zenon’s defense, slamming Fortnite for the ban.
Epic Games has not commented publicly on the player’s ban, and efforts continue from Zenon to get the ban overturned.
