Twitch Re-Signs Summit1G, Dakotaz and JoshOG

Published

In their continued efforts to keep the most popular Twitch streamers streaming on their platform for the long-term, Twitch has officially re-signed Jaryd “Summit1G” Lazar, Brett “Dakotaz” Hoffman, and Josh “JoshOG” Beaver to exclusive deals, according to the Washington Post’s Noah Smith.

With the streaming wars waging on, Twitch has joined YouTube, Mixer, and other platforms in inking popular streamers to exclusive deals in order to keep them from defecting to the competition, which had been a trend since 2019.

Twitch signing Summit1G comes as rumors swirled that Mixer was expressing serious interest in acquiring him.

“It makes me more happy than I could ever explain, they’re the ones I started with,” Beaver said, according to the report. “I’m ecstatic. It’s hard to put in words to be honest. Here I am supporting my mom and family, but I am truly ecstatic and I’m very excited for the future and the content that is going to created,”

“When I started streaming in 2013, no one was making any money … and now it’s come to this, where it’s become this thing where people are getting life changing deals,” said Beaver.

“At a time when community is paramount, these Creators are a core part of Twitch’s mission to bring people together, and we’re excited to continue our partnership as we build the future of gaming and live entertainment” Michael Aragon, SVP of Content at Twitch said in an official press release.

Twitch is off to an incredible start in 2020, and has seen record numbers in viewership and hours watched over the past two months, as everyone has been quarantined and observing stay at home orders amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
