The Dark Pictures Anthology Just released their New Trailer!
Bandai Namco just recently announced The Devil in Me fourth and last installment in Season One of The Dark Pictures Anthology series. It is an interactive horror game under development by Supermassive Games and to be published by Bandai Namco Entertainment.
The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me. The new game will follow a group of documentary filmmakers who receive invitations to tour a replica of serial killer H.H. Holmes’ so-called Murder Castle. And since this is a horror game, they soon discover that someone invited them here to play a deadly game and watch their every move. The game will possibly be inspired by the Saw franchise, in which people also go through deadly games.
The Devil in Me is set to come out in 2022. The previous installment of The Dark Pictures, House of Ashes, came out Oct. 22 and followed five characters trapped underground in a Mesopotamian Temple during the Iraq War. The other two games in the Dark Pictures series — 2019’s Man of Medan and 2020’s Little Hope — take place on a ghost pirate ship and in a ghost town, respectively. In each game, the player controls multiple characters in the story and each can survive or die, depending on the choices and quick reactions made by the players.
In the teaser, a man holding a cigarette is talking to someone, explaining what it means to be a killer. He says he is an artist and “to watch the life bleed out of someone, to see the fear in their eyes, to feel them pawning for release, to hear them pleading and begging – is true art”. His monologue is first accompanied by footage of entrails and corpses, and then scenes where possible protagonists face dangers in fear. Towards the end of the teaser, it is shown that the smoking man turns out to be a rotting corpse, controlled by a mechanism and the voice comes from a dictaphone. The voice says that he left his mark on the world and asks the listener if they have done so too, after which someone turns off the recording. The teaser ends, announcing the title of the fourth installment and Season One Finale – The Devil in Me.
The series premiered with Man of Medan in 2019, which is followed by Little Hope (2020) and House of Ashes (2021). The origin of the Anthology was the 2015 horror game Until Dawn. The current Dark Pictures titles are available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
I have personally enjoyed playing every single installment! The graphics are amazing, and every single game will have you at the edge of your seat to give you jump scares! As soon as I played Little Hope, I was wondering what Bandai Namco would do to make their next installment better than the last, and they exceeded my personal expectations. They are introducing multiplayer to The Dark Pictures Anthology!
