Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys has stated that she had considered retiring from Amazon’s Twitch streaming platform at some point in 2022, which would take one of the biggest female streamers away from the streaming platform
However, Pokimane informed he audience that she would have stepped away from Twitch if not for some recent major changes, according to Comicbook.
“I was debating whether I wanted to say this, but I guess I might as well” she said during a recent stream. “If it wasn’t for that influx of female viewers, female streamers, and just more diverse community members, whether that’s people of color or other minorities within the last year or two over Covid, I think I likely would have retired from streaming this year,” Pokimane told her audience. “Like, I likely would have.”
Pokimane added that, at some point, streaming stopped being fin for her due to the “friction” she had been experiencing.
What her next move would be if a departure from Twitch were to take place, would be a topic of discussion. In 2021, it was announced that she was starting her own talent management and brand consulting fir, RTS.
“It perfectly represents what we want to do for clients, which is to create a real-time strategy that will be beneficial and successful for them and their brands,” Anys said at the time of the official announcement, according to Digiday.
“I was in the process of interviewing with numerous agencies and management companies, since I needed additional help,” Anys said. “Unfortunately, I was a little dissatisfied with the meetings that I was taking.”
