xQc Comments on YouTuber MatPat’s Criticism of Twitch Streamers

Matthew ‘MatPat’ Patrick raised a lot of eyebrows when he took aim at the Amazon live-streaming platform Twitch, and a number of their high profile twitch streamers, over a number of things including how Twitch handles DMCA claims.

MatPat did so during a recent episode of his Game Theory show, and called out the platform for not regulating it’s content in the same manner that YouTube does, pointing to the infamous hot tub and reaction metas as evidence of how desperate streamers get in fulfilling their contracts, which require them to go live for a certain number of hours.

Popular Twitch streamer  Felix ‘xQc‘ Lengyel took exception and fired back, saying that MatPat for spreading “misinformation” and “lies”.

“That’s not even true,” xQc said during a live stream (h/t Dexerto). “The Twitch Partner agreement doesn’t have any hours requirement in them. The Twitch Partner or affiliate program does NOT have any required amount of streaming. What are you talking about?”

xQc also took issue with MatPat referencing  Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys and Hasan ‘HasanAbi’ Piker as channels being banned for copyright infringement. MatPat also said that streamers such as Pokimane need to “grow up.”

“Master Chef NEVER got DMCA’d. You can still watch it. Nobody ever got DMCA’d for any of them. The DMCA Hasan got was fake. It was literally fake,” he said. “Disguised Toast did not get banned. That is not true. He wasn’t banned, he wasn’t even suspended. He was put on a two-day cooldown because of a live DMCA. This is literally not true. I’m not malding, correcting misinformation and literal lies is not malding.”

xQc also took aim at MatPat’s comment that Twitch needs to look out for it’s creators like YouTube does. “Says a f**king YouTuber. HOLY F**K. What a disingenuous fu**king comparison. I don’t want to shit on the guy, the only problem is, for a guy whose content is theories and research about games, the lack of research in a lot of these Twitch examples was a f**king disaster. Quick research could have disproven more than half of his examples or the claims he made.”

And also commented on the YouTube saying that Twitch should pay for licenses for TV shows so streamers can watch on stream: ”They already have that, it’s Amazon Prime” he responded.

“It’s not very refined. It’s not worldwide. It shows the future though and we will get there. MatPat doesn’t understand that we already have this and it sucks! In certain regions, it’s blocked, and that alienates a portion of your live viewers.”
