Twitch, Youtube, Trovo, and Instagram are about to have more competition. Tik Tok announced that they are releasing a Twitch-like live service that will be released in beta on Thursday. In January it was announced that Tik Tok would be testing paid subscriptions, allowing its creators to charge subscriptions for their content, a spokesperson told The Information. Earlier Wednesday, rival Instagram announced it was offering paid subscriptions to a small group of influencers. Currently, ByteDance-owner of TikTok supports tips, which let fans send creators money through their profiles. Viewers can also react to videos.
The service will be launched into beta testing on May 26, initially with a select number of creators who have been invited to participate, according to information published by TikTok to its @TikTokLIVE_creator account.
Several creators have already been releasing the news of their participation in the new beta with their followers, there will be a large number of gaming streamers that will be testing out the beta as well.
