Khaby Lame, who is currently 22 years old, is a former factory worker who is a Senegalese-born creator who started using TikTok not soon after the pandemic. He currently is from Italy and is officially the most followed on TikTok and has passed Charli D’Amerlio, who has been on TikTok since she was a teen dancing and previously had the most followers.
Khaby Lame currently has 143.7 million followers and Charli has 142.6 million followers. He mainly posts silent comedy reactions to other people’s content and gains a lot of viewers doing so, and started gaining a lot of followers within the last year.
“I came up with the idea because I was seeing these videos circulating, and I liked the idea of bringing some simplicity to it,” Lame told CNN late last year. ” I thought of a way to reach as many people as possible. And the best way was not to speak.”
He originally posted himself dancing, watching different games, or doing different comedy stunts, then switched to posting videos of him making fun of other people’s TikTok posts without words and giving life hacks.
“There we were people from every ethnicity, so we would protect each other a lot. There was never an issue about racism,” he said.
