The streaming world had plenty to talk about this week after news broke that Twitch was easing it’s exclusivity rules, and now Twitch President Dan Clancy is doubling down on the platform’s decision, defending it as being “creator first.”
Clancy spoke about the changes during the latest edition of Patch Notes.
“When we think of our creators and wanting to be creators first it was important to give you the opportunity to experiment, explore, and look for opportunities that you think are right for you” Clancy said.
“We still think that it’s best to focus on one primary platform for livestreaming” Clancy said when further elaborating. “We think that’s an important part of building a community.”
Clancy later added that “Twitch is the best place to build and sustain a livestream community.”
While the headline of the news certainly caught attention, the devil is in the details as always, and there is not as much to be excited about as initially thought.
