Twitch Removing Hosting Feature

Twitch continues to make some drastic tweaks to their live-streaming platform, and another one is on the way as the Amazon owned streaming platform will soon be removing the hosting feature that has been a pillar of the platform for years.

Within Twitch’s Frequently Asked Questions section of its website, the company revealed that Host Mode will be removed on October 3rd, 2022, along with the following explanation:

“We made the decision to deprecate this feature because the experience it delivers to viewers doesn’t match their expectations when they come to Twitch,” the statement says.

“Viewers want to interact with a streamer when they’re live and host mode blocks this from happening. Preventing viewers from interacting with the streamer they’re watching also limits a streamer’s growth potential because they’re not able to build meaningful connections with those new viewers.”

A number of twitch streamers have blasted the platform for the forthcoming changes on social media.
