U.K.-based Hipgnosis Songs Capital has acquired 100% of Justin Bieber’s publishing and royalties from his master recordings and neighboring rights for $200 million, Hipgnosis has confirmed.
The deal is currently the largest rights sale for any artist of Bieber’s generation. It’s also Hipgnosis’ biggest acquisition to date, covering all 290 titles in Bieber’s catalog released prior to Dec. 31, 2021, including his most recent album, Justice (2021).
Artists that have recently sold the rights to their royalties include Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Justin Timberlake, Sting, and several others. Warner Music Group also purchased the late British rock star David Bowie’s entire catalog spanning six decades.
