A petition to levy a ban on Twitch streamer Alinity Devine following an incident on a recent live stream in which she threw her cat is gaining momentum.
Joining the outrage are animal rights organizations such as PETA and the SPCA has already taking action, with the Saskatoon SPCA announcing that a formal cruelty complain has been filed with their Animal Protection department and the matter is currently under investigation.
PETA, on the other hand, is calling for Twitch to step up.

Take a stand for cats & please remove Alinity from @Twitch immediately. She is using the platform to post animal abuse, which sends a dangerous message to anyone watching her videos. Cats are not props to abuse for more views 🐱pic.twitter.com/EsIsB5o6Tf
The streamer is no stranger to controversy, as earlier this year her channel came under fire from accidentally showing images of porn during her stream after she visited a channel who had recently hosted her, and somehow avoided a ban from Twitch.
She has also been criticized for some of her other content, which toes the line of Twitch’s TOS, and in some instances, it can be argued that she clearly violates it.
Sadly, her throwing her cat during her stream isn’t the only example of animal abuse:
So many stupid people in the world.

The petition, posted on Change.org, has gained over 18,000 signatures at the time of this writing.
This again puts the onus on Twitch to take a hard stance on the content being produced on their platform, and demonstrate some clarity in the enforcement on their Terms of Service, which frankly don’t seem to be cut and dry for everyone.
It’s your move Twitch. Everyone is watching.
